I am a Distinguished Toastmaster, experienced seminar leader, trainer, and motivational speaker at local, state, and national conferences.
I am a member of the Rotary Club of Owasso which is under Rotary District 6110.
I welcome the opportunity to share the Rotary and Toastmasters Alliance with Rotary members through a formal presentation or a small group collaboration. In addition, please be my guest in any of my club meetings listed below.
I fully support the Rotary and Toastmasters alliance as a valuable means of providing opportunities to grow Rotary member networks, leadership and communication skills, and member impact within the community.
The main vehicle for this improvement are the eight communication and leadership modules provided by Toastmasters International to Rotary members based on the Pathways education program.
The Pathways projects are very similar to the modules developed for Rotary members. I believe the communication programs created for Rotarians will improve individual performance.
How did Pathways help me?
Professionally, I retired from two different agencies. First, I retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service earning many leadership performance awards. The second retirement came through the Department of Veterans Affairs as an Educational Case Manager and a Veterans Claims Examiner. In addition, I held many other leadership, sales, and management roles in another agency.
Through the use of the Toastmasters education program such as Pathways, I consistently met or exceeded performance standards in my military career, community service, sales, management, and leadership roles.
The consistency was largely due to making the Toastmasters education program a priority in the development and implementation of my "professional development plan". My professional development plan was an important element with regard to my career management and the improvement of my soft skills and transferrable skills.
My involvement in Toastmasters:
- Improved my professional communication
- I became a more effective presenter and trainer
- Broadened my communication and leadership skill-sets
- Improved my active-listening skills
- Sharpened my soft-skills and social skills
- Improved my ability to communicate through adverse situations
- Supported my commitment to diversity
The Toastmasters education program provided the number one self-development program that provided the stability I needed to continue to improve with every level of promotion gained.
Once I made the commitment to make positive changes in myself, good things began to happen.
Resilience! Positive Mental Attitude!
